Juanita Roberts, age 89, Springfield, MO passed away peacefully in her home December 16, 2018.

Juanita was preceded in death by the love of her life Jack J. Roberts.  They are reunited and together again, Oh to hear the angels singing when they embraced!!

Juanita was born September 7, 1929 to Melvin and Lela McCallister in Buffalo, MO.

Juanita and Jack were united in marriage May 22, 1949; they were blessed to have many happy years together!  Juanita was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse at Macks Creek, MO.  She attended Buffalo High School and SMS and there she was a member of a musical trio that sang regularly on a radio show. Juanita was also an outstanding pianist.  She was very accomplished with her music and truly loved it and played well up into her years!

Juanita loved the Lord and was active in Church Choir and many other activities over the years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Springfield.

She did about everything in her younger years! She and Jack enjoyed traveling when he retired. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family as often as she could.  She enjoyed going to Chip and Jackie's Cabin. She enjoyed her flowers and sitting out on her screen porch so much. She was a stranger to no one, and everyone who met her always mentioned how sweet she was!!  She loved watching Jack coach basketball, and loved watching her grandchildren participate in their sports, she was always their biggest fan!!  She enjoyed all the simple pleasures of life!

She will be missed so much by so many!! She truly was a bright light with that twinkle in her eye!!

In addition to her husband, Juanita is also preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lela McCallister, her brother Bill McCallister, and her beloved grandson Cory J. Wagoner.

She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Pierce and husband Lane, Murphysboro IL and Jackie Wagoner and husband Chip, Springfield; granddaughter Elissa Wright and husband Cameron,  Marion IL; grandsons Aaron Pierce and wife Cassie, Tuscola Il, Ash Pierce, Nashville, TN, and Casey Wagoner, Springfield; great-grandsons Braxton and Devyn Wright, and Tyler Pierce; great-granddaughters Bria Wright and Kerri Pierce; niece Ann Powell and husband Larry, Republic; great-niece Tracey Lucchese and husband Scott; and great-nephew Marc Powell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11am, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.  Burial will follow at 1pm in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm, Thursday in the funeral home.
