Obituary

Juanita Cannon, age 89, of Springfield, MO passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 at Mercy hospital. She was born April 17, 1928 in Springfield MO to Sam and Bess Jones. She attended Central High School. A member of Sigma Kapa Sorority, she graduated from Southwest Missouri State in 1950 with a teaching degree.

Juanita taught in Rogersville, and at Study and Phelps in Springfield. In August of 1950 she married Neal Cannon and left teaching in 1952 to start a family. She loved the little children and as a dedicated member of First and Calvary taught Sunday school for many years. She was also very active in the Christian Education Department and the Children's Library. She was an active volunteer for Red Cross and Crosslines and was a 2015 recipient of the Gift of Time Award in Springfield, MO.

She is survived by her husband Neal; one son Mark and his wife Ann; one daughter Cathy Potts and husband Chip; granddaughters Lauran Elwart and husband Andrew, Sarah Cannon, Emily Potts; and great-grandchildren Nora, Abby, and Adam Elwart.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 3, 2017 at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Andrew Chaney officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
