Obituary

Juana P. Twigg Ayre passed away at Magnolia Square on Monday, February 15, 2016. She continued to live with brightness, humor and fierce independence. She was 103 years old. Her husband Richard M. Ayre, the pride of her life preceded her in death January 2001. They were married 66 years.

Juana was born August 6, 1912 to Frank O. and Della May Twigg. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Carl Twigg and Paul Twigg and sister Gertrude Stangel.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sharon K. Coy of Albany, NY, her grandchildren Leslie (Ed) Gailor, Kent (Karen) Coy, Sharon (Tom) Salisbury and 9 great-grandchildren.

Juana was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Springfield. She was active in the children's Sunday school, teaching and leading for 10 years. Juana's hobbies were gardening, bowling, knitting and sewing. She was also a member of the Ladies Shrine Club. She was an avid Cardinals fan and SMU basketball fan. Juana and Richard were members of various dance clubs in Springfield.

The burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery. At Juana's request there will be no service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO or the National Parkinson Foundation.

God saw the road was getting rough; the hills too hard to climb. He gently closed her loving eyes; and whispered peace is thine.
