Joyce Mae (Vernon) Scott
September 13, 1939 – July 25, 2022

Joyce was born in Phillipsburg, MO on Sept. 13, 1939 to Guy and Eula (Kissee) Vernon. She joined her Heavenly Father on July 25, 2022, at the age of 82. She graduated high school in 1957, and married John Michael (Mike) Scott on a beautiful spring day on March 20, 1959. She was primarily a homemaker but worked part time at various places before retiring from Gallagher Sales.  Joyce was a member of Glendale Christian Church for over 50 years. She loved those around her, and never failed to show her beautiful smile. Her favorite activities were cooking for her family, hosting holiday get-togethers, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers - Gordon, John & Jack Vernon.

She is survived by her husband - Mike; two daughters - Janet Lea of Springfield, and Jo Lynne (Jodie) Chenoweth and husband Kelly of Joplin; four grandchildren - Lindsey Sjorlund and husband Malachi, Sam Chenoweth and wife Bailey, Vanessa Lumby and husband Jacob, Scott Lea and wife Kathryn. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren - Lennox and Maddox Sjorlund, Josie Mae and Sawyer Chenoweth, and Arthur Lumby – as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 1-2pm.
Funeral services will begin at 2pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home (1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO).

Services will be officiated by Sid Allsbury and Chris Chiarino. Grandsons - Scott Lea, Sam Chenoweth, and Malachi Sjorlund; and Nephews - Gary Vernon, Paul White, David White and John White will serve as casket bearers.

She will be laid to rest in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please honor Joyce with a donation to Glendale Christian Church, 2110 S. Blackman Road, Springfield, MO 65809.
