Joyce Kathleen McGann was born on June 21st, 1946, in New Bedford, Massachusetts to John and Viola McGann. She grew up in a Bostonian home that her grandfather had built with her two siblings, Sandra and Jack. As a teen, the family moved to California where she roamed the beaches of Santa Monica. She frequently spoke of her day splaying on the pier and spending wonderful summers in the sun. As an adult, Joyce found much success in her careers at Sears and ultimately, IBM. She excelled in her work with computers and by retirement, she had risen to management and had held that position for many years. She is remembered fondly by her previous co-workers, whom she counseled and led through their own work struggles. Some have said that they owe their success and propensity to have a strong work ethic to her. Joyce lived in major cities throughout her life such as Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago. She moved to the Ozarks in 2002 so that she could be closer to her family such as her mother and sister. She formed solid, stable and loving relationships with her nieces and nephews, as well as their children. Joyce was a wonderful woman, full of laughter, spunk and a plethora of good advice. She loved spending time with her family by having dinners and taking trips. She was a wizard at games such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune; no one could rival her. She was a great cook, having learned from her mother, who was one of the best. One of her young nieces, when learning of her passing, tearfully said, "But now who will make her wonderful clam chowder? Or her spaghetti?" Joyce's absolute favorite thing to do, when not with family, was to take trips to casinos to gamble. She made many, many trips across the country to various gambling towns, both alone and with her mother and always raved about what a great time it was. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, John, her mother, Viola and her sister, Sandi. She is already greatly missed by her brother, Jack his wife, Linda McGann, her niece and her husband, Tammy and Steve Feingertz, her nephew Michael McGann, her niece and husband, Charity and Zack Krizan, her nephew and his wife, Paul and Melissa Hill, her other nephew and his wife, Peter and Christie Hill and all of their children, Ethan Feingertz, Michael McGann Jr., Aubrie and Olivia Krizan, Emily, Ana, Evan, Seth and Madeline Hill, and Dakota, Reese, Corbin and Addyson Hill. It's hard having lost these three fabulous women from this family and we miss all of them tremendously. But we've found moments here and there to laugh, saying, with Viola and her daughters all together in Heaven, God's surely got his hands full. We love you and miss you, Joyce, We'll see you again. Memorial service will be Thursday, July 12, 10am, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willow Springs under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
