Joyce Featherston Becker, formerly of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on Sept. 18, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born June 14, 1929, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to James M. and Estella (Holland) Snoddy. She graduated from McAlester High School and attended William Woods College and Southern Methodist University. From 1950 until his death in 1995 she was married to R. Jack Featherston, an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. During his active years of ministry they served churches all over Oklahoma. Later she married Donald O. Becker of Enid, who was retired from the Union Equity (grain) Cooperative of Enid. Several years after his death in 2012, she moved to Springfield to be closer to family.
Joyce was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Throughout her life she was active in all phases of church work. In Enid she participated in Enid Mobile meals, volunteered in Our Daily Bread program providing meals to the homeless, and served as a docent at the Midgely Museum. She actively supported the Enid Symphony, the Chautauqua Summer Series, and Gaslight, the local theater group. She enjoyed travel, local baseball and football games, reading, writing, and music.
In addition to her husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Byron Snoddy. She is survived by her daughters, Lyn Featherston Gattis (Jim) and Jill Featherston O’Hara (Michael), all of Springfield; four grandchildren, Loyd Gattis (Janna Harris) of Kansas City, Mary Norton (Dan) of Nashville, Patrick O’Hara (Emily) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Cassie O’Hara Snyder (Chris) of Lafayette, Tennessee; and five great-grandchildren, Betsy Norton, Kate Norton, Owen Harris-Gattis, Maya Harris-Gattis, and Ivy Snyder.
A memorial service for Joyce will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 2:00 at Christ Chapel Madaline Terrace in Springfield.
