Josephine Pearl Abernathy, 96, of Springfield, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Christian Health Care East. A native of Springfield, Josephine married Howell Turner Abernathy and was widowed in 1968 at age 50. She returned to Springfield in 1983 and was a dedicated matron of the family. Known as "Granny" by her grandkids, she will be loved and missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and son Gary Abernathy. She is survived by daughters Linda Kay Barrett (Mark) of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Sandra Jo Dunn (John); daughter-in-law Nancy Abernathy of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, MO, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.
