Obituary

Joseph Wesley Mains, 31, died on October 11, 2018 in his home in Wichita, KS.  He was born May 1, 1987 in Springfield, MO and graduated from Kickapoo High School in 2006.

Joseph is survived by his partner, Marc Talley of Wichita, KS; father, Emory Mains of Springfield; mother, Tonja Richey of Nixa, MO; sister, Naomi Farrow of Knob Noster, MO; brother, Daniel Mains of Bartlesville, OK; grandfather, William Doyle of Nixa, MO; and his grandmother, Betty Mains of Willard, MO.

Joseph was politically active and active in equal rights.  He was a registered voter and encouraged people to use their votes as voices for change.  "Equality is worth fighting for!  We only have to put in the effort to gain it and to keep it."

Joseph loved going out and shooting pool, playing chess, Star Trek and trivia.  Family was very important to him.  He was known for his dry humor and one-liner comebacks.  He considered one of his greatest accomplishments the fact that he was able to drive cross country several times.

Memorial services are to be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
