IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Lee
Kuhn
March 10, 1955 – August 26, 2023
Joseph (Joe) Lee Kuhn, age 68, of Springfield, Missouri, left his earthly home on August 26, 2023, and was welcomed by many loved-ones to his eternal home and Heavenly rewards.
Joe was born to John and Pauline (Krudwig) Kuhn on March 10, 1955, in Lebanon, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister – Lexie, a brother – John, Jr., and a sister – Mary Kuhn-Jemes.
He is survived by his loving wife – Janet, of the home; one son – Brian Joseph Kuhn (and wife – Betsy) of Columbia, MO; one brother – William D. (Dan) Kuhn (and wife – Mary) of Springfield; one brother-in-law – Richard Jemes of Conway, MO; one nephew – John Jemes (and wife – Danella) of Conway, MO; two nieces – Jessica Jemes-Eacret (and husband TJ) of Conway, MO, and Lindy Kuhn of Dallas, TX; many other relatives by marriage; cousins; caring friends and neighbors; and a loving Church family.
Joe attended Catholic grade school and enjoyed serving as an alter-boy at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1974.
In early adulthood, Joe enjoyed working alongside his father, John, in the family's construction business, and later worked in a furniture-making factory. For a time, Joe managed Ken's Pizza in Rogers, Arkansas. Later, he ran a vending route in Lebanon, then worked at Willowbrook turkey processing plant in Springfield. Together, Joe and Janet focused on owning, renovating, and managing rental properties until the time of his passing.
Prior to his failing health, Joe enjoyed woodworking and construction projects; road trips to watch the Royals' games; other travels; and shopping for cars and trucks. He always appreciated Janet's home-cooking and baking, as well as carry-out from his favorite Chinese and pizza restaurants. His favorite movies were Sci-Fi and action-filled, and were especially entertaining as he became more limited in his activities and travel. Joe looked forward to holiday dinners with both his and Janet's family, and being updated on all the family news.
Joe faithfully attended Catholic services when his health allowed. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Springfield for many years, until mobility issues prevented him from serving in that capacity.
Joe and Janet were united in marriage on August 2, 1986, and recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. Joe was a devoted and loving husband, and a caring father to Brian.
Although Janet, Brian, and Betsy will be the ones to most miss his love and affection, his sense of humor, sage advice, and words of reassurance, they, and each of us, will celebrate Joe's home-going as the greatest gift God could bestow on one of His beloved children. We will all miss Joe, and remember him at his best, strongest, and happiest, for that is how he is once more – unrestricted by any physical limitations, rejoicing with His Savior and precious loved-ones. We look forward to seeing him there.
Joe's ashes will be buried in the family plot in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon, MO, at a later date.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
