Joseph (Joe) McAdoo Helfrecht, 82, of Springfield, Mo, passed away on July 20th, 2012 following a short illness. Joe was born Oct. 17th 1929 in Springfield to Robert E. and Edith Mack Helfrecht. Joe graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1947. He served two years in the army during the Korean conflict. In 1959, after a short time in the Springfield Grocer Company office, he became manager of William T. Crome Grocer Company in Clinton, Mo. In 1970 he was made manager of Springfield Grocer Company developing it into an institutional supplier. Joe retired in 1990. Joe enjoyed guns, hunting, fishing, family, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Robert Jr, Norman, and best friend Suzanne Tynes. Joe is survived by his brother Eugene Helfrecht and wife Klova, daughter Rene` Freeman and husband Tommy, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a niece, nephews, cousins, and special friends Katie Tynes and Jan Tankersley. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m at Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
