Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family of Jose S. Romero announces his passing on April 21st, 2018 at the age of 84. Jose will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wilma. Married for 57 years, they raised six children - Artie, Charles, Richard, Michael, Judith, and Janette. He will be missed by his four grandchildren, Matthew, Danika, Richard, and Timothy and by his great grandchildren, Aidan & Gage.

Jose led a life of service. While in the US Army for 21 years, he served in France, Korea, Panama, Germany, and retired at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. After his retirement from the military, he completed his degree so he could help others who suffered from addiction. He was Past Master of both the Manitou Lodge #68 and Memorial Lodge #2 of the Masonic Order where he was active for over 50 years, and several times Past Patron of the Ruxton Lodge #10 of the Eastern Star. As a member of the Shriners International he was able to bring his experience and compassion to their mission of helping children facing difficult medical challenges. His great passion led to his working with disabled children throughout his life. In 2015, he became a Founding Sponsor for the National Museum of the United States Army.

Traveling abroad with his wife was one of his favorite things. They spent time in Italy, Germany, Ireland, Wales, England, and many other destinations. Jose traveled to most of the United States, including Hawaii. He enjoyed fishing, reading, parades, and playing with his dogs, Sissy and Lily.
