IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnie Carl
Wilcox
October 16, 1935 – September 28, 2024
Johnie Carl Wilcox, age 88, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri.
John was born on October 16, 1935, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania. He spent his early years in Springfield, Missouri, before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954. After his service, John returned to Springfield, where he met the love of his life, Bonnie, at Royal Typewriter in 1966. They were married in 1968 and shared 55 beautiful years together.
John's career in sales management allowed him and his family to live in various states, including California, Illinois, and New Hampshire, before settling back in Springfield in 1989. There, he owned and managed Jordan Cash Register until his retirement in 2005. The couple later moved to Hartsville, South Carolina, in 2010, and returned to Springfield in 2014, where they have lived until John's passing.
Known for his warm smile, baby blue eyes, and friendly demeanor, John was loved by all who knew him. He was a proud Marine Corps veteran, always eager to thank other veterans for their service. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, with a playful spirit and great sense of humor. A passionate San Francisco 49ers fan, as well as a supporter and fan of the Drury Panthers and Lady Panthers basketball teams, he found joy in both sports and spending time on the golf course (his "paradise") with his friends after retirement. He frequently played the lottery, never failing to share his famous saying, "You can't win if you don't play!"
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Berniece Wilcox, his mother Edna (Kiser) Wilcox, his brother Terry Wilcox, and his sister Linda Rolufs. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie; his daughters, Wendy Miller (Nate) and Holly Wilcox; his brother, Donald Wilcox (Becky); his four grandchildren, Johnny, Emery, and Tommy Miller, and Chloe Smith; and many nieces and nephews. John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
