IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnie William
Kiser
June 6, 1936 – December 14, 2025
Johnie "John" W. Kiser, 89, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home, after a short illness. Born June 6, 1936, to Wilfred and Fern Kiser, he graduated from Central High and lived most of his life in Springfield.
John married Peggy (Freitag) on April 4, 1955, and together they shared 70 years of marriage. He spent two years in the United States Navy, stationed in Newfoundland, and later joined the Navy reserves for eight years. They raised two children and made countless family memories.
John spent years as a loan officer at Charter Bank, Signature Bank, and Bank of America, where he helped clients meet financial goals and build lasting relationships.
When he was not working, John loved spending weekends and summer vacations at his family's cabin on Table Rock Lake. He would speed across the water in his bass boat, heading for secret fishing spots where he caught plenty of big fish over the years. As he grew older, John swapped his fishing pole for a golf club and played at every opportunity. Fremont Hills and Twin Oaks were among his favorite courses recording numerous holes-in-ones at both golf courses. Fishing and golf were sources of immense happiness for him, providing endless stories to share over the years with his family and friends.
John leaves behind his wife, Peggy; his children, Holly Muns and Marc Kiser; his grandchildren, Mallory McWilliams (with Jon Stevens), Mitchell Kiser (with Darion), and Courtney Muns; as well as a great-granddaughter, Murphy Erickson-Muns. He is fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred, and Fern, his sister, Patsy Rivers, as well as daughter-in-law, Michele Kiser and son-in-law, Terry Muns.
The funeral will be at 2:00 pm on December 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield, Missouri. Prior to the public service, a private military ceremony and interment with family will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in his honor from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at Twin Oaks Country Club.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the St. Croix Hospice team and Amada Senior Care for their attentive care, kindness and support during John's final days. In place of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-one of his favorite charities.
