John David Withers was born on June 18, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri to Bob and Patricia Withers.  John called Springfield, Missouri home his entire life.  Throughout his life, John enjoyed participating in athletics and loved hunting, fishing and being with family and friends.  He graduated from Glendale High School in 1975 and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia.  John's greatest pride was raising three remarkable children – Eli, Samuel and Anna.

John is survived by his wife, Marcy; his two sons Eli and Samuel Withers, both of Springfield and his daughter Anna Withers, who resides in Chicago.  He is also survived by his brother, Rob Withers and wife Ginger; his sister Deanne Gregor and husband Rob, of California; and brother Craig Withers, of Springfield.  John was loved by all and will be greatly missed by those who knew him especially his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

John's favorite verse was Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."  He loved and believed Jesus to be His personal Lord and Savior and hopes that you too would accept Him as Savior.  His "childlike faith" was evident to those who knew him.

A celebration of John's life will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Rivermonte Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
