John William Thurman born 1945 in Springfield, Missouri died on May 16, 2024.

He was raised in Republic, Missouri and graduated from Republic High School, joining the Marine Corps after graduation. He served his country in Vietnam, where he played the trumpet in a field band through his tenure there. When he returned home, he graduated from SMSU and earned his MBA from Drury College. John was a committed husband to wife, Patricia (Francis) Thurman for 55 years. He had a career in banking and materials management.

He's preceded in death by his parents, Ellis "Bud" and Elizabeth, his sister, Ann (Larry) Cutberth, and son-in-law Jeffrey Birkenfeld.

John will be dearly missed by his surviving family members, including his wife, Patty, his three children, Jeannine Birkenfeld, Audrey (James) Schilling, and David (Jai) Thurman, and grandchildren: Jackson and Maxwell Schilling, Stella and Genevieve Birkenfeld, Oliver, Owen, and Lily Thurman.
