John departed this world to join the Lord God on Tuesday 29 March 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Willow Springs, Missouri on 23 June 1934 to William J. and Maryruth Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Minnie Sue, age 2. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Belle; his daughter, Linda Ferrell, and husband, David, of Rogers,Arkansas; son, Jeffrey and wife, Clarissa, of Rogersville; daughter, Sydney Lough, and husband, David, of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Michael Ferrell, Devin and Olivia Moore, and Rachel Lough; brother, Terry Moore, and wife, Virginia; their daughters, Patty Snider and Teresa Norris; cousins, George Ballard, and wife Daisy, and Francese Barbee, along with several nieces and nephews. John graduated from Springfield High School (Central High School) in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. His tour of duty took him to Korea where he served with the 683rd Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from SMS (MSU) in 1964. He enjoyed a wonderful forty year career in architecture, leaving a legacy of area landmarks. One of his favorites was as project architect on The Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. He was an active member and faithful servant at Grace United Methodist Church. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, family, good friends and his many interests. Under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, visitation is scheduled for Friday 1 April, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. and memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 600 S. Jefferson, Springfield, Missouri. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with full military honors at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Springfield, Missouri.
