John Rotenberry, 73, passed away on August 14, 2012. He was born in Nevada, MO on January 10, 1939 to John and Ruth Rotenberry. John was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Rotenberry. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Arlie, and his daughter Carol and husband Patrick Vedder and two granddaughters Amy and Lori Vedder. He is also survived by cousins and a world of friends. John enjoyed all sports and was twice an All-State catcher and was drafted out of H.S. with the Chicago White Sox. He graduated from University of the Ozarks and University of Arkansas before starting his coaching-teaching career at Jarrett Jr. High School. He worked 30 years with the Springfield Public School Systems having spent six years at Jarrett, one year at Parkview H.S. and twenty three years at Kickapoo H.S. After retiring in 1993, he enjoyed his friends, golfing, tennis, volunteering, and especially spending time with granddaughters. Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 18 at 1:00pm at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church or Foundation for Springfield Public Schools - Robert Rotenberry Memorial Scholarship or charity of your choice.
