John Leslie Roper, 71, of Springfield, MO passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in his home.

He lived his last days loving on his many pets while enjoying country life with his wife, Virginia. He had a very generous heart, ready to help anybody. John graduated from Glendale High School in 1973. In his early years, he was an avid race car driver. 

John was a member of SCCA Sports Car Club of America Auto Cross and Porsche Club of America. John was also a proud member of the IBEW Local Union 453. He was the owner of a printer service company for many years. John retired as a journeyman electrician from Roper Electric in Springfield, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Eugene and Rosalie (Aab) Roper and his brother, Michael Roper. John is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Roper; siblings, Susan Christy and Peter Roper; stepchildren, James McMannis, Audry Sowards, Katy Mills, Thomas McMannis, and Jenna Lively; along with 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. 

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
