John K. Ritchie, 90 of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in the Missouri Veteran's Home, Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He served in the Coast Guard/Rescue Service from 1943-1945 during WWII. He attended 417 Life Church. John was born in Covington, KY on March 28, 1925 the 10th of 12 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings and a son. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Phyllis "Alicia" Ritchie, two natural children and ten children he loved as much as his own. He will also be missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and coffee buddies. John was very proud of being a Master Carpenter, stair builder, customer service rep and superintendent over finish work. Speaking Spanish and snow skiing at 70 years old and also being a "Big Brother. He loved to travel and enjoyed going to Washington DC as part of the Honor Flight in 2011. You changed the world by rekeying thousands of locks and fixing one crooked door frame at a time. You will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be Monday, July 27, 2015 at 3 pm at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the funeral home.
