John lived a full life, which came to a close on Nov 16th. He's at peace, whole again and in a better place where he deserves to now reside. John was born July 28, 1924 in Hannibal Mo where he grew up involved in the Presbyterian church, Boy Scouts, and the high school band. John proudly served our country in the 20th armored division of the US Army during World War II. He was a graduate of University of Missouri. John married Beverly Schwartz on July 20, 1947. John spent his working life in the insurance business. His careers were with the Missouri Inspection Bureau, National Fire Insurance Company, Continental National Insurance Company, and Barker Phillips Insurance agency here in Springfield, MO. He was active as a community volunteer with the Boy Scouts, Ozark Food Harvest, Kiwanis Club, Planned Parenthood, Springfield Boys & Girls Club, and First and Calvary Presbyterian Church as an elder and a deacon. John and Beverly spent many enjoyable years at Tablerock Lake at their cabin where they always welcomed their friends and family. John is survived by his wife Beverly, his sons and their wives: Mark and Colleen, Chris and Cindy, and Randy Richmond. He has four Colorado grandchildren: Sarah Putman, Erica Selby, Andy Richmond, and Peter Richmond, their spouses: Matt Putman and Steve Selby and four great grandchildren: Jaden and Garrett Putman, Liam and Haddie Selby. Friends are invited to join a commemoration of life at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church on Friday, Nov 20th at 12:30pm. There will be an interment of ashes at the Veterans' Cemetery following the church service at 2pm. A reception will be held from 3-6pm for friends at the Elfindale Clubhouse, 1707 W Elfindale Street.
