John Henry Reed, 74, Springfield, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 in St. John's Hospital. He was born November 15, 1935 in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Henry and Leona Thibodeau Reed. John was united in marriage to Marilou Kettell on June 8, 1957 at St. Agnes Cathedral. He retired after a 27 year career with the United States Military. John enjoyed woodworking, golf and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals. John is survived by his wife, Marilou; two sons, Jim Reed and wife, Cathleen; and John Reed and wife, Gigi; a daughter, Carolyn Lawson and husband, Brian; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Theresa Cushman and husband, Lloyd; his mother-in-law, Imogene Kettell; and a brother-in-law, C.G. Kettell. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Reidy celebrant, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 1708 East St. Louis Street, Springfield, MO 65802.
