Obituary

John Macioce, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at the age of 88 after a long, happy life on March 7, 2015. He conveyed these thoughts about his life before his passing. John was born on July 27, 1926 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and lived most of his life in Springfield, Missouri. John was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed the company of over 50 nieces and nephews. John was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church for over 60 years, and a life member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He was also a Vestry member and involved in local mission work. John attended Curcio #7 in St. Joe, Missouri, served at Camp Shawio and Cliff Springs Church Camp, and enjoyed retreats at the Ava Monastery. As a young man, John attended Army Manpower Control School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and then went on to graduate from Utah State with a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce. He was a member of the Junior National Guard, a WWII Veteran, and a civilian employee of the 5th Army involved in "operations and methods". John worked in the Industrial Engineering Department for Boeing, involved with sequence assembly for B47 and B52 bombers. John also owned Standard Electric Steel Casting Company, with partners, in Springfield, Missouri, for many years. As a family man, John enjoyed serving as Kiwanis Club baseball manager and chairman of Boy Scout Troop 25. He, and his surviving wife, Jean, enjoyed a long and interesting life together. They enjoyed music, travel, a cattle and horse farm, gardening, hunting, fishing, and boating. They appreciated God's gift of life and all its' wonders. John expressed he always looked forward to the future. It was John's wish that memorials go to your favorite charity or efforts to feed the poor. The Christ Episcopal Church Foundation will manage an ongoing fund to help the less fortunate, in John's memory. These donations can be sent to Christ Episcopal Church Foundation, 601 East Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri, 65806. John's wishes are for a small, family service for the interment of his ashes in the Columbarium at Christ Episcopal Church. This will be held on April 11th. Please join us in spirit that day or call the family if for personal reasons you would like to attend. John's family is very moved by all the cards containing full and beautiful expressions of love and remembrance of John, and appreciate the donations for others less fortunate, in memory of his generous nature.
