John Lupe, Jr., aka "Cowboy John," age 73, of Springfield, MO, rode off into the sunset on June 12th, 2020.  He was born in Braddock, PA, and lived much of his life in Orange County, CA.

John is survived by three sons - Tony Strother (Mindy Lang), Todd Strother (Tracy Strother), Troy Lupe (Jennifer Lupe), and one daughter, Traci Lupe.  He is the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Wallin and Cindy Miller of California.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Lupe, as well as his beloved dog, Cloud Lupe.

John was a Vietnam veteran (U.S. Army), continuing the family tradition of military service after his father fought in WWII.

He spent 32 years working for the City of Westminster/Westminster Police Department, CA.  After retiring from law enforcement, he spent his time doing what he loved most - making home movies, traveling, playing with his grandkids, dancing, eating banana splits, and planning his next practical joke.  John also enjoyed spending time in California with his girlfriend, Sue Waddill Reeds, and her family.

His memorial service for family and friends will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 11 am on Friday, June 19th. He will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery Springfield.

John lived a very full life. He was beloved by his family and those who were fortunate to know him.
