IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John F.
Garrett
September 25, 1952 – March 27, 2021
John F Garrett, 68, passed away peacefully on March 27,2021 at his home in Springfield, MO after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
John was born September 25, 1952 to Lt. Col. Len Garrett and Marjorie (Schmidt) Garrett in Eta Jima, Japan. He graduated from Parkwood High School in Joplin, MO in 1971. He met the love of his life Stephanie Cavanaugh, and they were married May 17, 1975. The couple moved to Springfield where John continued his career in sales, and they raised their family. In 2016, John retired from Metro Appliances & More.
Anyone who knew John knows his family and faith meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his daughters. Beyond his passion and love for his family he was a man of faith and an active member of his parish, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He supported Springfield Catholic Schools, to include several years on their school board. He had many achievements while belonging to the Knights of Columbus and serving his community. He loved to play golf and could often be found on the golf course when he wasn't at home.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Stephanie; three daughters, Misty Stephens (Will Kavanagh), Francine North (Richard), and Cheri Duran (Patrick); two sisters, Diana Warden (Gary) and Karen Stockton; grandchildren Olivia, Aidan, Paige, Kaia, Grace, Charlotte, and Remedy. He is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
