IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Michael
Gallagher
November 3, 1951 – November 19, 2023
John "Johnny" Michael Gallagher, age 72, of Springfield passed away at 10:24 a.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born the son of Robert L. Gallagher II and Elizabeth L. (Loveless) Gallagher in Garland, TX.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Nova Center of the Ozarks, Special Olympics, Greene Co. Park Board, Springfield Workshop, worked for Food 4 Less for seven years, and graduated from the CP center.
Johnny loved his sweet tea, sweet and sour chicken, and meatloaf. He was the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals biggest fan. He enjoyed fishing, ceramics, bowling, decorating for holidays, antique shopping, and all his outings with his great-nephew, Hardy. Anyone who knew Johnny knew his love for John Deere tractors and his dogs Sheba, Candy, and Binky.
We feel that Johnny was always one of God's angels on Earth. His innocence, kindness, and forgiving heart were amazing and an example how Jesus would want us to live. John struggled more than anyone can imagine physically but he always had a smile on his face and would say "I'm fine, I'm fine." John was always at peace no matter the circumstance.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timothy E. Gallagher, and his great-nephew JP Gallagher. He is survived by his sister Merry Hicks (Clint), Springfield, MO; brothers, Robert Gallagher III (Theresa), Springfield, MO, Patrick Gallagher (Joann), Sioux Falls, SD, and Monty Gallagher, Springfield, MO; nieces, Shannon Henke (Mark), Kristen Gallagher, Brandi Gallagher-Taylor (Steve), Angie Dougan (Doug), Kari Gallagher, Kelli Zimmer (Dusten), and Tracy Cooper; nephews, Troy Hicks (Dee) and Mike Hicks (Johanna); great-nieces and nephews, Ashley Gallagher, Christian Henke, Josef Baltz, Hardy Dougan, Nolan Baltz, Kadence Cooper, Henley Dougan, TJ Henke, Grayson Henke, Bristol Cooper; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Kiefer celebrant, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nova Center of the Ozarks in honor Johnny Gallagher.
We would like to extend many thanks to Cyrus Taylor at the Springfield Park Board and Sandy Phillips at the Nova for all your kindness. Also, many thanks to Clint for all the fishing trips and Roadway breakfasts.
