John W. Fairley age, 97 of Springfield passed away Friday, October 14th in his home. He was born August 8th, 1919 in Medicine Lodge, KS. The son of John B. and Fanny Fern Campbell Fairly, he graduated from high school in Isabel, KS.
On May 11th, 1941 he married Leona M. Strechowiak.
Following his service in the Army Air Corps, he began his career of more than 40 years with the Frisco Railroad. He was an outdoorsman all his life, enjoying hunting, fishing, canoeing, and chip carving. He and Leona were active square dancers.
He was a member of St. Agnes Parrish and later St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parrish where he was an active member and cook for the men's club.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
He is survived by his two daughters, Geralyn F. Natalino of San Antonio, TX. and Jean White of Springfield, four grandchildren, Sean and Christopher Appleby of Springfield, Michael Natalino of Ft. Worth, TX., and Michell Natalino of San Antonio, TX, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2pm Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8pm with a Rosary at 7pm in the church.
