John C. Dwyier (1933-2014) John Clarence Dwyier, age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born to Clarence and Flossie Dwyier on April 10, 1933 in Missouri at the Springfield Baptist Hospital. Raised in Lockwood, MO, his childhood was spent on the family farm; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing trumpet in the school band. He graduated from Lockwood High School in 1951 where he met the love of his life, Melba "Jean" Eggerman. They married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood on September 27, 1952. After farming in the area for several years they moved to Springfield, Missouri, where John worked at Mono Manufacturing. He moved on to Dayco Corporation as a machinist for 38 years until he retired in 1996. John and Jean were avid square dancers for 30 years and also very active over 50 years at Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an elder. Gifted as a master craftsman and mechanic, everyone was convinced there was nothing that John couldn't fix or build. His parents and a grandson, Jonathan Rader, precede John in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; children Theresa Rader (Nathan), Gary Dwyier, Linda Marshall (Ken); a sister, Dorothy Thomas; grandchildren Jason and Bobbi Rader, Jessica Rader; great-grandchildren Tyler and Amethyst Rader; in-laws, nieces, nephews, beloved extended family and friends. There will be visitation Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1415 S. Holland, Springfield, MO. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lockwood, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund at the above address.
