John Farrell Davis ,89, of Springfield, died Friday, April 11th, after a short illness. John was born to Raven W. and Vinnie Davis in Polk County on February 25th, 1925. He moved to Springfield and married Virginia M. Lovett, his wife of 62 years. She preceded him in death. He was a partner in Welhener Tent and Awning Company for nearly 30 years. After his retirement at age 50, he stayed busy working part-time out of his garage. John also loved to take long road trips and visited all of the states and capitals in the continental United States. His love of life was infectious and he will be missed by all. John is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Sue Davis; his brother-in-law C.L. Euliss; his son Dan Davis of Arizona; his son Tim Davis and his "favorite daughter-in-law" Renee Lynn, of New Mexico; and his long time special friend, Wilda Looney, plus many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 15, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, from 6-8 pm.
