IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Patrick
Casey
February 10, 1956 – February 26, 2025
John Patrick Casey, age 69, passed into Glory on Wednesday February 26th, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri. John was the first born of six children, son of John E. and Janet E. Casey, born on February 10th, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri. John attended Hickman Mills Senior High School and graduated in 1974. Upon graduating, John attempted to join the military and serve the country that he loved but it was determined he was ineligible due to the debilitating disease of Rheumatoid Arthritis. John's love of life and family sent him on a mission to beat the odds which he did for over 30 years. In 2001, John's course in life took a turn when his sister Cathleen, asked him to come live with her and help raise her children. They lived in Topeka, Kansas for several years until moving to southwest Missouri. Daily, John was a faithful, kind, and loving masculine figure to Cathleen's children, Marcus Frank, his nephew (preceded John in 2021), and Gabrielle and Marissa Frank, his nieces. John was also a significant role model and caretaker to his great nephew Kai Frank (Marissa's son) whom he loved dearly.
John enjoyed sports, weightlifting, Tai Chi, karate, craft festivals, art museums, western movies, playing chess, reading, cooking for his family, and CHIEFS football. He was an excellent painter and very good with plants and automobiles. As a teenager, he completely broke down a car engine and rebuilt it; he could name the make, model and year of almost any car, particularly antiques.
Johnny benefited immensely from extensive research on living a healthy lifestyle to help battle his health condition. He learned about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, foods, vitamins, minerals, natural supplements, and exercise, all things that would aid him and others in their
daily lives. When John took an exam required for employment with a national health-food company, he was asked to take the test a second time in their presence, to be sure his score was accurate, because the company had never met anyone who scored so high. Customers often stood in line to receive his guidance on various concerns because of his previous success in helping them.
Johnny was the one in our family of 6 siblings to motivate others to excel, do their best, and be their best, their very best. Johnny himself was a survivor, a fighter his entire life, giving everything he had till his final breath. He loved his family dearly; at a single request he gave up his lake house to assist his sister with raising her children. Despite his own physical challenges, his loving heart was revealed by how he served others.
Most of all, John loved The Lord God, the Living God. Accepting Jesus into his life as Savior changed his life forever. Our Heavenly Father gave him strength every day to fight through his pain and live a life of grace and hope. Johnny is a son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who is already deeply missed. We love you, John.
John is preceded by his parents, John and Janet Casey, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Susan Casey, nephew Michael Greenwood (son of Tom and Susan), nephew Marcus Frank (son of Cathleen Frank), and nephew Christopher Casey (son of Chris Casey).
John is survived by his sister Cathleen Frank, her daughters Gabrielle and Marissa, Marissa's son Kai, and Gabrielle's daughter Raina Tucker; his brother Michael Casey, Michael's wife Susie and their children: Paige (Casey) and Brandon McCullah, Timothy Casey, Shane and Samantha Casey, and Isabelle Casey; children of Tom and Susan Casey: Tammy and Jamie Getman, Amy Greenwood, Jeffrey Greenwood, Sarah Casey, and Joshua Casey and his wife Brenda Lei, who are missionaries in Spain; his sister Marie Nace and her four children, Patrick Nace, Holly Nace, Katherine Nace, and Daniel Nace; his youngest brother Christopher Casey and his wife Gina, their daughter Lauren Morris, and Chris's son Austin Woodward and wife Sydney. Johnny is survived by many other great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who meant so much to him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for his final expenses in care of Cathleen Frank, with prayers and great appreciation from the family.
Thank you for your love and support.
