Joe A. Jackson, 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2016. Born July 22, 1929 to Robert and Mildred Jackson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Geneva Isabelle Stone, infant daughter Nancy Ann and three brothers.
Joe enlisted in the Army in 1951, serving two full years in the Korean War, and another 20 years in Army Reserves. He was proud to be a soldier. He retired from Herrmann Lumber of Springfield after 42 years as yard foreman.
Joe leaves behind three sons and their wives, Ed and Christina, Tim and Lila, Mark and Barbara, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers and one sister, Bob, Roger, and Nancy.
Joe enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, target shooting, and making ammunition. He dearly loved his grandchildren and enjoyed making them smile, whom they called Poppy Joe.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mercy Hospital Unit 3A and 4C for their kindness and compassion during his hospital stay.
Joes wit and laughter and sometimes cantankerous attitude will be missed.
