JoAnn (Bryant) Brown, 94, Springfield, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 in her home. She was born September 29, 1929 in Springfield, the daughter of Ralph C. and Jewell (Ford) Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Linder Brown and brother, Keith Bryant.
She graduated from Greenwood in 1947 and Drury College in 1951, where she was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Later she returned to Drury for the master's degree. For 15 years, she was a teacher and counselor at Nixa High School, retiring in 1985. After retirement she became a member of Junior League and volunteered at Cox North Hospital. She was a longtime member of St. Paul UMC and later King's Way UMC.
She enjoyed art and joined 20th Century Art Group and a knitting group called the Knit Wits. She was also a member of PSRS and the Saturday Lunch Group.
She is survived by sons, Bryant and Bradley (Jane) Brown of Springfield; brother, Robert Bryant of West Virginia; and grandchildren, Morgan and Marshall Brown of Springfield.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with a service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Chad Pollett officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Drury University.
