Joan Davis passed away on October 23, 2010 at the age of 88. Her legacy is that of a very intelligent and strong woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who demonstrated an endearing love for all her family. She is truly appreciated for her quick wit, strong faith, love of country music, and firm political affiliation and beliefs. Joan was born to William and Ava Henderson of Marshfield, Missouri on January 15, 1922. She was united in marriage to Loyal Herman Davis on August 11, 1940 and to this union three sons were born. She was employed by Owen Illinois Corporation of Springfield and retired after 25 years of service. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Jim Davis, Austin, Texas; Rick and Cindy Davis, Golden, Colorado; and Keith and Lyn Davis, Nixa; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Cunningham, Marshfield, and Linda Douglas, Carrolton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal, two brothers, David and Gene Henderson, one sister, Esther Clemons, and her daughters-in-law, Sue Davis and Lafonda Davis. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 in Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor William R. Marler, officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at The Manor at Elfindale for the outstanding care provided to Joan during her stay there, her very good friend and caregiver, Marlene Glendening, and Dr. Richard Cunningham for his dedicated care through the years. She will be truly missed by all.
