Joan Weien Allen of Springfield, MO passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the age of 89. She was born July 12, 1925 in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of Glen and Pearl Weien. She married Robert K. Allen in Ottawa on January 16, 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2007. Survivors include a sister, Melba Nelson of Wichita, KS; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie (Bob) Jones of North Manchester, IN, Susan (Ralph) Simon of Marietta, GA, and Saundra (Nathan) Carlson of Springfield, MO; seven grandchildren, Eric (Maryjo) Jones, Wendy (Ed) Pfeiffer, Robyn Jones, Heidi (John) Hartman, Keith Carlson, Christopher (Heather) Simon, and Chad Simon; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Warren Weien and sister, Margie Alexander. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Joan was a homemaker who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her loving presence. A private family burial will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. No formal visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
