Obituary

Jo Pachl, born Doris Jo Sanders on October 8, 1930 in Miller, MO, left this world to be with the love of her life, Max; Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Jo is survived by her son, Max F. Pachl III (Jane Henson Parker), daughter Constance Pachl (James Conant) and son-in-law Mark Haldiman. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Max F. Pachl Jr, daughter Annette Pachl Haldiman and her parents Boyd & Dixie Sanders.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Brooke Pachl, Sara Haldiman, Andrea Pachl, Max F. Pachl IV (Lauren Pachl), Tom Haldiman (Lindsey Haldiman) and Elly Haldiman.  As well as five great-grandchildren: Jeremiah West, Weston & Landon Haldiman and Jude & Blake Pachl.

Along with being a devoted wife, Jo was also a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin & friend. Her love of travel & entertaining was a good fit for being a longtime army wife as they lived and travelled internationally before making their home in Springfield. Among her many passions, Jo enjoyed La Soir dance club; Art Club and volunteering to raise money for charities. If you had the good fortune to know her, you might be in possession of one of her beautiful hand-knit afghans. She always had a bright beaming smile and was willing to assist friends, family and neighbors in time of need. Her positive demeanor and countenance and her ability to act as a gracious hostess in any situation made her a respected and beloved example for many. Her ever-present "thank you" and sweet disposition in all circumstances endeared her to all who knew her. Jo was also in possession of a quiet, razor-sharp, subversive wit - she did not miss a thing!

Jo will be extremely missed; however, we rejoice in the time we had with her. Hers was a big life in a little package.

Memorial service will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be Monday, March 26, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of Jo's wonderful caregivers over the last couple of years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to any cancer research organization in honor of Jo's beloved daughter, Annette.
