Jimmy Dodd, 77, of Walnut Grove died of natural causes in his home Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 8 p.m. He was born August 14, 1932 in Walnut Grove, Mo., the son of Clarence and Ethel Dodd. He was preceded in death y his first wife, Mattie Mae Dodd; his life long companion, Rosemarie Richardson, January 18, 2007, who herself had a long history of illness; his two sons, Tony and Larry Dodd; brothers Ross, Lee and Robert Dodd; sisters Christine Adams and Emogene Bowman. He is survived by his sister Charlene Todd; his daughters Sandra (Hershel) Bailey of Springfield, Missouri, Brenda Brown, Linda (Castor) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska;his sons Monty (Shirley) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, James C. Dodd of Springfield, Missouri., Don (Angel) Dodd of Omaha, Nebraska, Dwayne Dodd of Walnut Grove, Missouri., Keith (Melissa) Dodd of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by children of Rosemarie Richardson; daughter Merry Baker of Walnut Grove, Missouri; sons Bill (Carla) Richardson of Buffalo, Missouri., and Charles (Kim) Richardson of Freemont, California. He was loved by his 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Employed at Ash Grove Lime Kill for 23 years, Jimmy was a hard and dedicated worker. After retiring both he and Jessie re-located to their new home in Eudora, Missouri. Jimmy there began farming and caring for animals, at one point owning 25 head of cattle as well as numerous hogs. Jimmy especially loved his dogs. Jimmy will be truly missed and always in our hearts!! Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home.
