Jim Leon Coursey, 73, Springfield, died May 11, 2013. He was born February 24, 1940, in Howell County, Missouri. Jim attended West Plains High School where he was a two-time All-State basketball player, as well as an All-SCA Conference and All-Ozark District player. He attended University of Tulsa on a full basketball scholarship. He also attended Oklahoma Military Academy, where he continued to play basketball. He was always a Zizzer. Jim loved his family, sports, and spending time at the lake, often fishing with his buddy, Lorretta Cartwright. He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Bradley and wife Renée; four grandsons, Sam and Brody Coursey and McGwire and Kael Stroud, all of Springfield; and a brother, Hollis Crowe, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial in West Plains will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Mercy Children's Hospital-Springfield.
