Jessie Rae Bell, 90, Springfield, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Glendale Gardens. She was born November 29, 1924 in Ilasco, MO, the daughter of Harvey M. and Mabel McLaughlin Clark. She grew up in Philadelphia, MO and graduated from Hannibal High School. She enlisted in the WAC's and worked as support staff at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Following her service she lived in California for a time before making her way to Chicago where she managed fine restaurants, including Café Bohemia where she served the likes of Al Hurt and Frank Sinatra. She married in Chicago and from this union came her pride and joy, Bonnie. After Bonnie was born she moved to Hannibal to be closer to family and then to California where she continued to manage restaurants until her retirement. After her retirement she moved to Springfield to join her daughter. Rae was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Margaret Taylor and Bonnie Jones and her brother, Leon Clark. She was also preceded by her beloved poodle, Beauregard, a gift from her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Bell, Springfield; a sister Marilyn Truber and her husband Norman, Springfield; eight nieces and nephews, Judy Bailey, Steve Taylor, Tom Taylor and Carolyn Taylor, Dennis Jones and Tonya Jones and Debbie Holt and Paul Truber; and numerous great nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2014 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Hosea Bilyeu officiating.
