Jerryldene Burrell, age 93 of Winona, MO, passed away at 3:30 pm August 26, 2015 in Springfield Missouri. Jerry was born July 24, 1922 near Salisbury MO and spent 20 years on a farm near Yates, MO with her parents Rex and Earma Jeffries and sister Norma Jean. She graduated in 1944 from Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, MO as a registered nurse. Jerry's nursing career spanned 50 years, working in numerous hospitals and as Shannon County Health Nurse. Jerry and Fred Burrell were married in 1951 and raised four children in Winona, MO. She enjoyed watching her family grow and was loved by all who called her Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Jerry is preceded in death by her mother Earma Lou Jeffries, father Rexy Coy Jeffries, husband William Frederick Burrell, son Michael Lee Burrell, daughter Mary Martha Little, sister Norma Jean Dodd, and brother-in-law Charles Dodd. Jerry is survived by a son and his wife, William Warren Burrell and Evelyn Burrell of Pearland, TX; a daughter, Elizabeth Lyn Combs of Springfield, MO; a daughter-in-law, Linda Albert Burrell of Portland OR; grandchildren Casey Hood, Jennifer Oxner, Seth Burrell, Tara Little, Zachary Little and Rachel Combs as well as nine great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Jerry grew up during the Great Depression and often reminisced about her life, of riding a horse to school with her sister for many years through rain and snow. Her gathering of experiences made for memorable stories she shared with her children and grandchildren, memoirs enriched by the treasures contained in her cedar chests and photo albums. Jerry made sure each child and grandchild received a quilt from her collection, many of which she personally crafted. She spent her later years reading, playing Bingo, and watching the birds she so faithfully nourished, especially her Cardinals. Jerry will be missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 1 pm September 4, 2015 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 2340 W Grand, Springfield, MO.
