Jerry Edwin White of Halltown, Missouri died December 2, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Jerry was born July 26, 1933 in Lawrence County, Missouri to Ora Lee and Nancy (Owens) White.  On April 21, 1953 he married Thelma Colestock. He is survived by a daughter, Anne (Jim) Roth of Washington MO; two grandsons, Jason (Janette) Roth of El Paso TX and Cory Roth of St. Louis MO; and two great-grandsons, Caleb and Thomas Roth of El Paso TX. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Colestock of Indianapolis IN and Georgia White of Halltown MO; and three nieces and three nephews. His wife preceded him in death.

Jerry attended school in Halltown and Mt. Vernon. In 1955 he graduated from Ozark Bible College in Joplin with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature. He continued his education at Fort Hayes State College, Hayes KS where he received his Masters degree. He also studied at Southwest Missouri State, Springfield and University of Missouri, Columbia.

Variety was the spice of life for Jerry. He was an educator in Missouri for 30 years, working as; a teacher in Everton, Lebanon and Hickman Mills; an assistant superintendant in Versailles; a superintendant in Sturgeon, Cairo and High Hill; and a counselor in Verona. Throughout those years he and Thelma served weekend ministries in small churches wherever they lived. In 1974 they returned to his family's farm where Jerry added farmer to his list of activities. He became a shopkeeper in 2005 when Thelma retired from their store, Whitehall Mercantile, located on Route 66 in Halltown.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, December 5 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole in Springfield.
