A Tribute to Jerry Dale Thompson

On the 26th day of March 2021, Jerry Dale Thompson passed thru the pearly gates of heaven, he has received his glorification kneeling before the throne of Christ and is now walking on streets of gold.

Jerry was born May 6, 1941 in Winona, Mo., graduating from Winona High School and, later in life, attending Drury University.

He has now been reunited with the most beloved prize he ever attained, his loving wife Jean, whom he was married to for 57 spectacular years. The bond of this relationship was built upon a Christian foundation and the love that grew between the two of them created the oneness that is required for a long happy and healthy marriage.

He was a very caring and respectful son to his parents, Gerald and Bernice Thompson (rejoicing of his arrival), with one sister, Glodeen Jennings.

A proud father to his three precious sons and their wives, Brian and Angela, Mike and Carla, and Greg (seated at the great banquet table) and Cynthia Thompson. Jerry instilled great values, ethics and showered his boys with love, revealing the love of Christ to each one of them. In their eyes he was a man like no other and he shared his many attributes which molded them into the men they are today. He loved his daughters-in-law and evenly offered them all of his love.

He was a very loving grandpa to his six grandchildren (one whom is tickled to see him) and four great grandchildren with another one to arrive real soon. He always looked forward to seeing them and spending time with them. He poured his love out equally to each and every one of them.

Jerry had the utmost respect, friendship and love for his father and mother-in-law, Elbert J. and Alma Smith (residing in Glory Land). E.J. was Jerry's best friend and he relished the times they shared talking about Jesus, Bible passages or what heaven would be like.

Jerry was blessed with the loving relationships that he had with his brother and sisters-in-law, a special friendship was formed with each one.

He was a caring uncle to numerous nephews, nieces and their offspring. He appreciated the time and love they offered to him by coming to his home and visiting with him.

He truly delighted in family get togethers, reunions, holidays and birthdays. Jerry received great joy by visiting with the people, listening to the music, singing and the eating. He cherished the time spent together and the lifelong memories that came from them.

He was very successful in business and provided a wonderful and rewarding life to his family. He saw opportunities and took on different challenges with the required diligence to achieve the goals he had placed before himself. He wore many different hats thru out his life.

Jerry Thompson was a Christian man whom replicated Christ thru the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that lived within him.

He was a devoted Disciple, his life actions and disciplines exemplified the love he had for Jesus and he displayed it in a way that God received the glory. He was not judgmental, boisterous, deceptive, envious or an impure talker.
He accepted the Shepherds role, maintaining a willingness to share his wisdom, encouragements and teachings which enabled many of the lives he touched in so many positive ways.

Jerry had a wealth of knowledge concerning God's Word and he had a tremendous impact on many people from assorted walks of life. He understood the importance of earnestly seeking answers and guidance to life's problems thru reading the Bible and an active prayer life. Jerry's faith in God was unwavering. His desire was that each person he made contact with could see the love of Jesus in him, that he would seed into their lives thru his actions and by sharing his love of Christ with them. His greatest hope was that each and every family member would put forth a sincere effort to seek a relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

He will be deeply missed by those that knew him, the Holy Spirit is providing peace and comfort to the family during this transition to Jerry's new eternal home.

We should now all rejoice knowing that the unfading crown of righteousness, glory and eternal life has been placed upon his head. Rejoice, again I say rejoice!

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice and all of the Care Provider's that assisted in the compassionate preparation of Jerry's departure.
