Jerry Joseph Potter, 81, passed away on November 1, 2011, in Springfield, Missouri. Jerry was born August 28, 1930 to Carl and Lillian Potter. He was a lifetime resident of Springfield, Missouri. Jerry attended Greenwood, Senior High School, and Drury College. At the age of 14 he was employed at the Springfield Airport where he acquired his pilot's license and enjoyed flying for many years. Jerry enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Taneycomo at Rockaway Beach. He and his wife of 58 years, Sarasue Gibson Potter, spent many summers there with their three daughters. He joined his father in the automotive industry at Carl Potter and Son. Later he started a career in commercial real estate. Upon retirement, Jerry and Sarasue enjoyed traveling to many exotic locations. They had a 20-acre farm on FR 205 where he enjoyed taking care of a variety of animals including cattle, chickens, a lama, a donkey, and many cats. He was a member of the Army Reserve National Guard Medical Corps, Solomon Lodge #271, Abou Ben Adhem Shriners, Scottish Rite, Life Member of Order of Elks, and Kings Way United Methodist Church. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Penni Quinn and husband Thomas L. Quinn of Springfield, MO, Cindy Clampett and husband, Steve Clampett of Dallas, TX, Becki Petersen and husband, Brad Petersen of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Matthew Crumpley, Jennifer Crumpley, Stephen Clampett, Sarah Clampett, Julianne Petersen, Geoffrey Petersen, and Jenaleigh Petersen. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Sarasue, and his parents Carl and Lillian Potter. Funeral services will be November 20, 2011 at 1:00pm at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial Services will follow at Danforth Cemetery.
