Jerry A. Pickering, 85 Springfield, passed away in Cox South Hospital on January 4, 2011. He was born in Springfield, Mo. to Andrew and Loretta Pickering. He graduated from Greenwood High School. For 35 years he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a life member of the AT&T Pioneers Organization, Telephone Company Credit Union, and was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Jerry loved his family, golf, and was an avid Arkansas Razorback Football Fan and Supporter. It was in Springfield that he met and married his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Johnston, who preceded him in death in 2008. For the last 2 ½ years Jerry has shared and enjoyed life with his Greenwood High School girlfriend, Silvia I. Smith. Jerry is survived by his three children, Carol and David Moffis, Springfield; Andy and Brenda Pickering, St. Louis; and Liz and Chuck Aderhold, Springfield; six grandchildren, Wesley Pickering and wife Jody, Krista Johnson, Melanie and husband Ron Burnett, Clayton Pickering and wife Suzy, Sarah and husband Ryan O'Callaghan, and Alexandra Goldstein as well as two great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Patty Bach, of Springfield, and his cousin Harry Gary of Arizona. Visitation will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 3555 S. Fremont, on Friday, January 7, 2111 at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
