Obituary

Gerald Eugene Haik, 89, was born March 1, 1935 to Joseph and Mary Haik in Minneapolis, MN. When he was two, the family relocated to the midwest, ending up in Springfield, MO. He attended St. Agnes School and Church. His Junior year, he went to Central High School and graduated in 1954. After High School, he joined the Air Force. He served in Korea during that war and from there he went to Japan where he was in charge of a supply depot. He later went to Vietnam as the war was beginning. He was on a strike team that first found where the Vietnamese Army was hidden. He completed two terms in the Air Force before returning home to work in the family business, Haik's wholesale dry goods.

He was a kind and loving soul, known for his quiet strength and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Though he was not a man of many words, his actions spoke volumes, and his presence carried a profound impact on those around him. Jerry adored his beloved wife, Peggy, and together they shared a deep love for their many dogs and cats, whom he considered his children. His compassion extended not only to his family but also to every animal that crossed his path.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Haik and Mary Kouri Haik, as well as his siblings James Haik, Marlys Haik Zind, Gloria Haik, Ronald Haik, Joe Haik, and Gary Haik.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, and his siblings: Carol Meyer, Robert Haik, John Haik, Mary Jo Carey, Janice Grubbs, and Sherry Hundley. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
