Jerry R. George, 78, Springfield, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in James River Care Center. He was born November 1, 1933 in Springfield, the son of Charles Francis and Wilma Irene George. He attended schools in Reeds Spring, Kingsport, Tennessee and Springfield. He graduated from Central High School in 1953 and attended Southwest Missouri State University for 2 1/2 years. He attended Blue Bonnett Beauty College and became a hair stylist and instructor and operated a beauty college in Joplin, Missouri for 5 years after which he worked at J.C. Penney beauty salon in Springfield. Jerry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Springfield First Ward. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Charles. In addition to his loving wife, Rosalyn George, he is survived by his mother, Wilma; a son, Andrew Wade George and wife, Lisa, Everett, Washington; two daughters, Linda Anne Gratton, Springfield; and Michelle Lynn Beebe and husband, Dwight, Liberty, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank the staff of James River Care Center and Seasons Hospice for their devoted and loving care in Jerry's final days. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday in the funeral home.
