Jerrie Jane Trotter, (aka Nanny)  74, Springfield, passed away suddenly on August 29, 2022 in her home.  She was born April 29, 1948 in Springfield, the daughter of Earl and Ertis Trotter.

Jerrie, or as some knew her, Janie, was a fun loving, hilarious, entertaining, colorful and sometimes unpredictable person. She surely kept her guardian angel in stitches. She passed on her ability to use humor at the most inappropriate times as a coping mechanism to her daughter and grandchildren. (so you'll have to excuse us on this point)  Everyone who met her loved her. She was thoughtful, kind and generous.  She worked as a surgical technician most of her career until she became central supply manager.  Jerrie was an avid reader.  She enjoyed murder mysteries, horror and comedies. She loved to cook and everyone loved her cooking!  That was definitely her love language.  Her very favorite thing to do in the world though was spend time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. When she held each of them for the first time she looked down and told them "I'm going to spoil you rotten." That became her life's mission. She succeeded.  She was the best grandma anyone could hope for. She was incredibly proud of her daughter and her grandbabies.

Jerrie is survived by her daughter, Kim Gurwell and her husband, Ben; three grandchildren, Duncan Gardner, Hailey Baldenegro and Jamie Gardner, her sister Linda Cruber, and nephews Chris Langston, Jason Langston and Poppy Cruber. She leaves behind many, many friends who will miss her light but will carry on with her spirit in their hearts. That's how she will live on.

A time to celebrate Jerrie Jane with stories and remembrances will start at 10:00 a.m. September, 7th, 2022 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with a visitation to follow until 12:00 p.m.
