Jeffrey Lane Stone, 60, of Springfield, Missouri, passed from this world on December 1, 2025.  Jeff was preceded in death by his father John Clare Stone. Jeff is survived by his beloved son Benjamin Parker Stone, age 25, his mother Ivonne (Shortt) Stone, and his brother and sister-in-law Greg and Dusty (Winchester) Stone, all of Springfield.

Jeff graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1983 and earned a bachelor's degree in communications and music from Missouri State University in 1997.

Music was Jeff's life passion.  He started playing the trombone in elementary school and continued his music education through his years at Kickapoo and at Missouri State University.  He studied classical music and played in numerous rock, soul, and funk bands.  Jazz music, however, was his greatest love.

Jeff was a loving father to his son Ben.  Jeff took great joy in watching Ben learn and grow.  He was very proud of Ben's accomplishments.

A visitation for friends and family will be held Saturday, December 13, from 10 AM - 12 PM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole in Springfield.  A wake and celebration of life and music will be held the same afternoon from 2 - 5 PM at the Dugout Bar and Grill, 1218 East Trafficway in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Play It Forward of Southwest Missouri, a music-education nonprofit that puts musical instruments into the hands of students who could otherwise not afford them.
