Obituary

Jeanette Rea Unsell, 72, of Springfield, Mo, passed away at 6:20 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in her home. Jeanette was born June 15,1938 in Buffalo, Missouri to Byron and Crystal Lind Rea. She graduated from Greenwood Laboratory School and earned her Bachelor's Degree at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Jeanette also obtained her M. Ed. Degree from Drury University. Jeanette returned to Springfield in 1981 from Lexington, Kentucky. Since that time Jeanette has served in numerous church, city, state and area organizations including John Calvin Presbytery, City Utilities, Water Shed Committee of The Ozarks, and Valley Watermill Task Force, which culminated in the Valley Watermill Park. It has been Jeanette's privilege to know dedicated, talented, creative and knowledgeable people in Springfield and the Southwest Missouri area. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children's father, Jesse Herbert Collins, II and her second husband, Vester Brown "Brownie" Unsell to whom she was married from 1993 to 1999. She is survived by twin sons, Bill Collins of Germantown, Maryland and Frank Collins and wife, Pam of Fairfax, Virginia; three grandchildren, Ivel Lee Collins, and twins, Ann and Parker Collins; a sister, Patricia Rea Jackson and husband James E. of Cupertino, California; and a sister-in-law, Kay Collins Million and husband Leonard of St. Louis, Missouri, and numerous other relatives. Memorial services will be Friday, February 18, 2011 at 9 AM in Covenant Presbyterian Church under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with The Reverend Ward Rudolph officiating. A reception in the parish hall will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Watershed Center at Valley Water Mill Park at 320W Main, Springfield, Mo. 65806, or Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, Mo. 65804.
