Jeannette (Bell) Renie passed away April 2, 2016 in Mercy Hospital. She was born June 4, 1928 to Bill and Inez Bell.
She attended Greenwood Laboratory School and graduated from MSU in 1950. While in college she met Carl A. Renie, and they married in 1950. They were blessed with two children: Dr. William Andrew (Andy) Renie and wife Judy of Baltimore County, MD; and Annette Renie Wilson and husband Bill of San Antonio, TX, both of whom survive. Also surviving is her sister, Mary Helen Crow and four grandchildren: David Renie, Paul Renie, Alexia Wilson and Charlie Wilson.
Jeannette was an accomplished artist, working in many different mediums over the years. She was best known for her skill as a woodcarver, teaching this craft for the Springfield Park Board for many years. Other interests included sewing, flower gardening and cooking.
She was a lifelong member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, an original member of the Prayer Chain, served at one time on the art committee and was a member of the 49er's Church School Class.
In 1976 she helped found the Ozark Area Arthritis Club and had been a longtime supporter of people with many different types of arthritis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl Renie.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in First and Calvary Presbyterian Church under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No formal visitation is planned; however, friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Private family burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Art Program at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
