Jeanne Marie Batey, 91, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Center. Jeanne was born in Springfield on December 4, 1922 to Louis and Marie Schofield Michels. She was united in marriage to Ward E. Batey on September 11, 1943 in Springfield. To this union, three children were born, Terry, Mike, and Pat. She was an avid housewife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook and was great at bowling. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband; three siblings, Louis, Jack, and George; and a great-granddaughter, Christina. Jeanne is survived by her three children, Terry (Sherry) Batey, Mike Batey, and Pat (Dale) Amos; five grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Jeanne was loved and cherished by her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Springfield Rehab and their very special nursing staff. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned, however, friends may call after 2 pm on Monday in the funeral home.
