Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Jeanette Alene Doggett, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Jeanette lived a life focused on faith and family until her heavenly homecoming on May 9, 2026, at the age of 87 in Springfield, Missouri.

Her family moved from Missouri to Colorado when she was 17. After graduating high school and taking college courses, she worked as a medical administrative assistant. Jeanette eventually moved back to Missouri where she married the love of her life, Ed Doggett. She became a full-time homemaker and supported Ed as he was transferred by the Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroads across the country. They moved 12 times in 13 years as Ed held various executive positions. Eventually, they retired to Florida and moved back to Springfield in 2016.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, creating new recipes, interior decorating and sewing.

When she was physically able, she enjoyed supporting various Christian ministries, attending concerts, musicals and plays. She loved planning domestic and international trips and collecting memories and photographs.

Jeanette was born in Bourbon, Missouri and was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil and Vineta Rowe Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, Ed Doggett; daughter and son-in-law Shonda and Matt Gravat; grandson, Landon Gravat; and granddaughter, Aleah Gravat.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 1:30 pm at the Lake Springfield Boathouse at 2312 Springfield Park Road. There will be no visitation. There will be a dessert bar directly after the service at the above venue.
